Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on 1938, Fritzner Alphonce was most of his life a leather worker. He began painting at the urging of his friend, Calixte Henry in 1972.

Fritzner Alphonce took courses and advices from mentors like Arijac and Nehemy Jean.

Fritzner is fascinated by the female figure. His paintings depict an endless variation on this theme.

Member of the Baptist church, Alphonce is a deeply religious man and he leads a bible study class in his village. He rejects voodoo and its themes in his art.

Alphonce work's has been shown in Europe, throughout the Caribbean Islands; at the Haitian Institute in Washington, D.C., and at the "Organization of American States (OAS).
