Hero
represented in this painting: Petion, a freeborn mulatto, Rigaud's lieutenant during the civil war of the South, came back from France to fight in Leclers army and Dessalines the black slave who became Toussaints right arm were two men who undoubtedly respected each other but had remained apart until the disarmament. Leclerc's policy brought them together in the same thought: the love of freedom, the love of independence. Before October 13, 1802 during a meeting in Haut du Cap Petion and Dessalines had established the outline of their war plan against the French. They agreed that Dessalines would be the general of the rebels. He was chosen because of seniority, his indomitable energy and the fear that he inspired in the natives, Christophe, Romain, Brave, Yayou, Capois approved the agreement and later, Geffrard, Cange Ferou. Hero
